The Hungarian Competition Office (GVH) announced on Monday that it had set up a task force to determine the reasons for the rise in prices of building materials, according to a report by the state news wire MTI.
The task force will look into complaints that raise suspicions of cartel activity, GVH said, noting that some building materials markets in Hungary are “dominated” by a few players, creating the conditions for price fixing.
GVH also recognized the impact of supply chain disruptions, trade policy measures, overseas exposure and lack of capacity on prices.
