The Indotek Group reduced its carbon emissions by almost 600 tonnes in 2021
Over the past two years, Indotek Group, one of Hungary’s leading real estate investment management groups, has launched nearly 16 energy efficiency investments with a total value of half a billion HUF, reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions from its 600 tonne properties through sustainability improvements. , according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.
The group has carried out interior and exterior renovations of its 20 to 25 year old shopping centers and office buildings, mainly involving construction services and lighting renovations and upgrades to reduce energy consumption in order to maintain the level interior comfort. In several buildings, boilers and heating systems have been replaced and lighting fixtures have been replaced with LED technology.
The energy efficiency projects, worth a total of around half a billion forints, will save around 220,000 cubic meters of natural gas and 673 megawatt hours of electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption total annual gas consumption of 80 to 100 average Hungarian households and annual electricity consumption of 300 families. The developments will save the Earth’s atmosphere from emitting 600 tons of carbon dioxide per year, which is equivalent to the annual carbon neutralization of a forest of 24,000 trees, according to the press release.
Investments in energy efficiency have affected several buildings in the Indotek Group‘s real estate and commercial portfolio, including Duna, Csepel, Nyír and Sopron squares, as well as Infopark A and E buildings, the office building at Váci út 114 , the IBS building and the Kocka office building.
A total of 25 modernization and renovation programs are currently in the preparatory phase.
“Over the past two years, our Ggoup has significantly reduced its ecological footprint. This is best illustrated by the fact that the annual reduction of almost 600 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions is equivalent to the planting of around 24,000 trees, since a tree of average age and condition extracts or sequesters around 25 kilograms of carbon dioxide per year. The Indotek Group is increasingly focusing on integrating sustainability into its operations, and this approach is reflected in our renovation programs and operations,” added Marcell Pintyőke, Marketing Director of the Indotek Group.
